Abstract
Warm Dense Matter (WDM) is a critical area of study in astrophysics, inertial confinement fusion, and planetary science, lying at the interface between plasma physics and condensed matter. Utilizing two ultrashort XFEL pulses in a pump-probe setup makes it possible to create and characterize WDM. We employ soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) to probe WDM's electronic structure with femtosecond to sub-femtosecond resolution.
