Experiments at the Single Particles, Clusters, and Biomolecules and Serial Femtosecond Crystallography (SPB/SFX) Instrument [1] of the European XFEL often require an optical laser to be performed, for instance for pump-probe or for diagnostics. A variety of optical laser systems offering a pulse duration ranging from femtosecond to nanosecond are available at the SPB/SFX instrument to satisfy and cover the broad requirements of various applications. The capabilities of these laser systems and example use cases are presented here.
