The European XFEL is under construction and is designedto become a multi-user facility. Three SASE beamlines with two experimental areas each are foreseen toguarantee a high user throughput. In order to enable thefull scientific potential of the facility, optical laser pulsesfor either pumping or probing samples will be deployedregularly.We are presenting the pump-probe laser concept andthe current status of the development, showing someexperimental results of the prototype laser, achieved todate. The main emphasis of the presentation lies on theintegration of the laser system into Karabo, the emergingcontrol system of the European XFEL.
